Pathway One

Learning an instrument or developing vocal, music production or DJ’ing skills provides a wealth of benefits for young people. Regular practice and lessons nurture discipline, perseverance, and creativity, while preparing for a graded exam offers structured milestones and a sense of achievement. Engaging with music also encourages confidence and self-expression, as learners gain the opportunity to perform in front of others and explore their artistic identity. In addition, instrumental or vocal study strengthens cognitive development by enhancing concentration and memory, supports teamwork and communication when playing in ensembles, and fosters transferable skills that extend well beyond the music room.

We work with all of the major Exam Boards and the higher grades even attract UCAS Points.

PATHWAY TWO

Using Music at the core of what we do, Pathway Two develops a blend of foundational, personal, and practical skills that equip learners for both academic success and life beyond the classroom. These include strong literacy and numeracy skills, digital literacy for navigating modern technology, and effective communication and teamwork abilities. Equally important are problem-solving, resilience, and self-management skills that enable young people to work through challenges, set goals, and stay motivated. By building these essential skills, learners increase their confidence, broaden their future opportunities, and are better prepared for the next stage in their education or career.

ARTS AWARD: Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold (aged 25 and under).

DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD: Bronze, Silver and Gold (aged 14-24).

PATHWAY THREE

Pathway Three is a vocational route that equips learners with practical skills and qualifications to support progression into further study or employment. Courses include a Level 2 Safeguarding course—essential for those volunteering or working with children and vulnerable adults—and a Level 2 SEN training course that is invaluable for anyone interested in supporting learners with special educational needs in a classroom environment. Learners can also pursue a Level 3 Planning and Delivering Successful Music Lessons course, offering an engaging introduction to teaching that enhances practical expertise, confidence, and career prospects in education or the creative industries.

PATHWAY FOUR

Pathway Four takes a flexible, blended approach, integrating academic study with vocational experiences to create a truly personalised learning journey. This means learners can work on core qualifications such as GCSEs or Functional Skills while also exploring hands-on, practical courses, for example in teaching, creative arts, or other professional areas. By combining theoretical foundations with real-world skill-building, Pathway Four ensures each learner develops the confidence, transferable expertise, and resilience needed for further education or employment. Ultimately, this tailored model nurtures individual aspirations and broadens opportunities for success in multiple pathways.

Flexible Scheduling

We understand the importance of flexibility for Alternative Provision students. Our lessons are available throughout the day or evening to fit into your family’s schedule, ensuring your child’s education remains personalised and stress-free.

Home Education

Customised Learning

Our highly qualified teachers work closely with each student to design lessons that match their pace, interests, and skill level. Whether your child is a beginner or advancing in their musical journey, we create a learning experience that keeps them motivated and excited to grow.

A Balanced Curriculum

Music education is more than learning an instrument; it’s about enhancing cognitive development, creativity, and discipline. We integrate music theory, technique, and performance in a way that complements your Alternative Provision, enriching your child’s overall education.

Social Engagement

Alternative Provision students thrive in our community settings, and our group classes, concerts and recitals provide a chance to connect with other like-minded students. From rehearsals and ensemble playing to concert performances, your child will have plenty of opportunities to collaborate, share, and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Online or In-Person

Can’t find an MLC near you? Or does your child prefer to study from the comfort of your own home? Whatever your circumstances, online lessons can work just as well (if not better) for many people. We have several options depending on your needs and budget. Subscribe to one of our Online Courses or, for one-to-one online lessons, contact us today to discuss your requirements.

Promoting Inclusivity for All Learners

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience the joy of music. Our school is dedicated to inclusivity, and we welcome children with diverse needs, including those with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). Our experienced teachers are skilled in adapting lessons to meet the individual learning styles and abilities of each student, ensuring they feel supported, understood, and empowered to thrive in a nurturing musical environment.
