‘Move Your Feet’ was released by Danish pop duo Junior Senior, and featured on their debut studio album D-D-Don’t Stop the Beat. The song was first released in Denmark in 2002 and, having performed well, was later released as an international single in 2003. The song peaked at number 4 in Denmark and number 3 in the UK, giving Junior Senior their first major chart success. While the song is Junior Senior’s only top ten UK hit, the song has been frequently used in film and media in several countries, including Australia, the UK and the US.
Junior Senior is Jesper Mortensen and Jeppe Laursen. The duo met each other while playing in a band in their teens and formed Junior Senior in 1998 after the band broke up. Along with ‘Move Your Feet’, Junior senior released two studio albums and four singles until disbanding in 2008.
This upbeat pop song from the Danish duo ‘Junior Senior’ has a mixture of sung and rapped vocals and is a fun challenge for a performer at an entry level. The arrangement is an abridged version of the original recording with a chorus–verse–chorus structure and a melodic range of a fourth (F#4–B4).
You should aim for the tone quality to be secure, with maintained clarity and projection on both the sung and rapped parts, regardless of whether you choose to position the overall key and tone in your chest or head voice.
The rap section should be rhythmically secure with strong articulation and accented emphasis on the repeated words “don’t, don’t, don’t…” and “can’t, can’t, can’t…”.
You do not need to say/rap the lyrics in brackets; instead, try to focus on managing a strong lead part around these backing vocals.
