Studio Equipment
As an aspiring music producer, it’s important that you can identify the key equipment that you are likely to come across.
Not all studios have the same equipment, for example, a small ‘project studio’ will aim to get by on as little equipment as possible to keep the costs down. Whereas a commercial studio will aim to offer their clients the best equipment but charge a much higher price per day.
A recording studio is made up of a number of pieces of equipment; some of which will be consistent from studio to studio, while others will be bespoke to the studio and the way it’s intended to be used.
The most common items you’re likely to come across are:
- Mixing console/mixing desk
- Microphones
- Digital audio workstation
- Patch bay
- Instruments (such as drum kits & guitars)
- Cables
